Terms of Service

The basis on which Valdor arranges your travel. Written plainly, so you know where you stand.

These terms govern the relationship between you and De Laet Consulting GmbH, trading as Valdor ("Valdor", "we", "us"), when we arrange travel on your behalf. By asking us to plan or book travel for you, you agree to these terms. Please read them; if anything is unclear, simply ask.

1How Valdor works

Valdor is a private travel advisory. We design journeys and arrange the elements that make them up. In doing so, we act as your agent — we are not the provider of the travel itself. When we make a booking, a direct contract forms between you and the relevant provider, such as an airline, hotel, tour operator, transport company, restaurant, or other supplier. We arrange these bookings in your name and on your behalf.

This means each provider’s own terms and conditions apply to your booking with them, alongside these terms. Those provider terms may include their own rules on payment, changes, cancellation, and liability. We will draw the important ones to your attention, and you should read them before confirming a booking.

We arrange travel in cooperation with Fora Travel, the travel network of which Valdor is an independent advisor. Bookings and payments are handled through Fora’s platform and supplier relationships.

2Our role and what we are responsible for

Our responsibility is to arrange your travel with reasonable skill and care, to select providers thoughtfully, and to represent your interests honestly. We take that responsibility seriously, and it is the heart of what we do.

Because the travel services themselves are provided by others, we are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or failures of the providers — for example, a delayed flight, a hotel that falls short, a cancelled tour, or any loss, injury, or inconvenience arising from a provider’s performance. Claims of that kind lie with the provider concerned, and we will help you pursue them.

3Payment and your card

Payment for your travel is handled securely through Fora’s platform. With your authorization, your payment card is held in Fora’s encrypted payment vault, operated by a specialist payment-security provider; neither Fora nor Valdor stores your card number in its own systems. Your card is used to pay for the components of your trip as they are arranged and booked, of whatever type and wherever located.

For certain bookings with providers whose systems are not connected to the platform, your advisor may retrieve and enter your card details with that provider on your behalf. We will ask you to confirm your authorization for the use of your card, in writing, before we charge it. You may withdraw that authorization, or ask for your stored card to be removed, at any time.

4Fees, deposits, and prices

Where Valdor charges a planning or service fee, we will agree it with you in advance. Prices for travel are set by the providers and may change until a booking is confirmed and paid in accordance with the provider’s terms. Deposits and final payments fall due on the dates the provider requires; late payment can result in a booking being cancelled by the provider, sometimes with charges.

5Changes and cancellations

If you wish to change or cancel a booking, tell us as soon as possible and we will do what we can. However, changes and cancellations are governed by the relevant provider’s terms, and may carry charges — in some cases up to the full cost of the booking, regardless of whether travel has begun. Where we incur a provider’s charge on your behalf for a change or cancellation you request, you agree to reimburse us for it.

6Your responsibilities

7Travel insurance

We strongly recommend that you hold comprehensive travel insurance appropriate to your journey, covering at least cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, and repatriation. Travel involves risk, and insurance is your protection against the unforeseen.

8Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, and because we act as your agent rather than as the provider of travel services, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with our services is limited to the fees you have paid to Valdor for arranging the travel in question. We are not liable for the providers’ acts or omissions, nor for indirect or consequential loss.

9Events beyond control

We are not responsible for any failure or delay in performing our obligations that results from events beyond our reasonable control, including natural events, weather, strikes, political instability, war, civil unrest, epidemics or pandemics, government action, or the failure of providers or infrastructure.

10Your privacy

We handle your personal data with care and in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, how it is used, and how it may be shared with providers and processed internationally in order to arrange your travel. The Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.

11Governing law

These terms, and our relationship with you, are governed by Swiss law. The courts at the registered seat of De Laet Consulting GmbH shall have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that grant you the protection of the law or courts of your place of residence.
